Round Seven Mallory Park 17th - 19th July 2009
THE British Superbike Championship visited Mallory Park on 17th - 19th July 2009 and it turned into one of the most spectacular race meetings of the year, with Airwaves Yamaha riders James Ellison and Leon Camier sharing a win each.
The opening dry race was a real corker, with six riders dicing for the lead. It never let up until HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes made a braking error going into the hairpin and literally skittled the leading riders, allowing Ellison to avoid the carnage and take the victory after it was red flagged.
Many riders and teams were not happy with the red flag result as what had been the race of the season was cut short.
Race two was full of drama as well, as the heavens opened and the rain fell. Such was the ferocity of the rain that the race was shortened and the leader at the time Camier took the win.
It was a thrilling weekend of racing at Mallory Park - certainly some of the most exciting racing of the year for BSB. Keep an eye on the race calendar for 2010, you will not want to miss it when BSB returns. |
